How Viagra Works
Viagra
is a medication that is prescribed only for men. Women having
similar dysfunction should seek help from a doctor who would
tell them how it could be treated. Erectile dysfunction affects
about 15 to 30 million men in the US alone. Since this dysfunction
affects so many men one question to clear up would be the exact
meaning of the term “Erectile dysfunction”. Erectile
dysfunction is the failure of having or maintaining an erection
enough for ones sexual needs. This condition is usually faced
by men who attain the age of 40 and thereafter. Erectile dysfunction
problem in men can have a devastating effect on ones relationship.
The problem of erectile dysfunction does not only spoil one’s
sexual relationship but also causes one to become less self-esteemed.
The good part of this dysfunction is that it can be cured. There
are many reasons to the cause of erectile dysfunction; however,
most of these are all curable. In order to understand how Viagra
works it is important to know how the functions of a penis.
The penis like most other parts of the body is assigned to do
certain tasks. There are two tasks that the penis is supposed
to do:
- Excreting liquid waste from the body and
- Releasing sperm and seminal fluid from the
male body by a process called ejaculation.
Viagra helps with the second tasks that
the penis is supposed to perform. Generally before the penis
can ejaculate it goes through three basic steps. First the male
is sexually aroused; the penis responds to this by becoming
erect and finally in simulation to the penis becoming erected
causes the penis to ejaculate. This although sounds simple enough
the second step of the penis being erect during sexual experiences
is not there. Viagra helps the male penis to stay erect for
an average of about four hours. This is an average time for
most people to finish their sexual acts and fantasies. There
are three ways in which the penis can be made erect during sexual
encounters there are:
- Increase the amount of nitric oxide produced
in the penis
- Increase the amount of cGMP produced in
the penis in response to the nitric oxide
- Eliminate the PDE in the penis so that the
cGMP builds up instead of getting decomposed by the PDE
In no way should one take Viagra without
the doctor’s consent. You should always ask the doctor whether
you are capable of taking Viagra or not. Remember that although
this may seem as a very sensitive issue to talk about it should
be taken seriously as the side effects like any other medication
could prove to be disastrous
